This hour-long documentary follows a group of passionate, talented, women attorneys working in an Atlanta public defender office. Using a cinema verite style this film takes you on a journey with our lawyers through their compelling legal work and personal lives. The main story follows an attorney through each step of the defense process
for a particular case, from the initial jailhouse meeting with the accused through
the delivery of verdict. Subplots examine the public defenders’ daily wrangling
with the prosecution over issues ranging from the setting of bail to the admissibility
of evidence to the negotiation of plea bargain agreements. By creating intimate
portraits the film provides a first hand look at these intelligent, dynamic personalities
while examining the moral struggles and lifestyle sacrifices that are an inherent
